Focus and Scope

The EDUCACIÓN EN INGENERÍA journal, consistent with the aim of disseminating research in engineering, covers all disciplines within the large area of Engineering and Technology (OECD), through research articles, case studies and review articles resulting from work of national and international researchers.

Periodicity

The journal EDUCACIÓN EN INGENERÍA is a Biannual publication (March-July and August-February). All costs of the evaluation process, editing, graphing and others are assumed by the publisher.

Peer Review Process

Authors are advised to submit their articles in English, since publications in this language have a better chance of increasing international visibility and citation, both for the authors as well as for the journal.

Article submission

Your submitted article must be accompanied by a Cover Letter, requesting the article’s publication in the journal, stating that the article has been approved by all of its authors. 4 possible peer review candidates must be recommended (2 national peers and 2 international peers) for the articles’ specific topic; if needed, attach any necessary permissions to republish previously published material. Along with the Cover Letter, the article will be submitted to the Open Journal System, OJS, in the UN’s Virtual Library (go to Article Submission).

By institutional policies, an author can publish only one article per year in the journal EDUCACIÓN EN INGENERÍA, to avoid inbreeding

Articles with the following characteristics will NOT be considered for publication:

  • Previously published in another scientific/informative journal or magazine.
  • A translation or use of material protected by intellectual property rights.
  • A critique of the state of the art of engineering which does not contribute to or innovate on the topic.
  • An article which comes from class notes.
  • Articles, which are offensive or severe, intended for individuals, research groups, products and/or other services.

Authors will submit their articles through the Open Journal System (OJS), after going to the OJS System website and registering as a user.

Authors must adjust their articles to comply with the Presentation Format and consult the Article Submission Format Model.

Load the manuscript in Microsoft Word ® suitable for blind review "without informing the authors" (NOT .ZIP or other compressed file), in their original version. Upload supplementary files (letters of use and originality, images, original version of the paper as it should be, with names of authors, instittucional affiliation, city, country, email and others, etc.)

Authors must complete the Register of Articles (in the system OJA) and send it, along with the Cover Letter, as an attached file, through the Open Journal System (OJS).

Once the Article, the Cover Letter and the Article Registration Form have been properly submitted through the OJS, the system will send acknowledgement of receipt to the author registered in the system. All communication regarding the article and the supplementary material’s process will take place through the registered email of the article’s principal author.

In the event that the article is accepted for publishing, the authors must read the Transfer of Economic Rights to EDUCACIÓN EN INGENERÍA document carefully and completely. It must be signed by all of the authors and it is to be handed in once the final version has been vetted for publishing.

The editorial team will verify the originality of the text for cases of improper citation or possible plagiarism use Turnitin service (www.turnitin.com); this tool contrasts the manuscript evaluated against current and archived web pages, student papers and publications of major scientific publishers such as Elsevier, Taylor & Francis or IEEE. When a manuscript presents minor problems citation, which will be returned to the authors to make the appropriate changes, but any other problems cause the manuscript be automatically rejected the manuscript, even without having been reviewed by academic peers.

Overlapping publications (Multiple Publication)

Our editorial board discourages any form of overlapping publications, where significant portion of texts, ideas or findings are duplicated. Overlapping publications include the following cases: dual or duplicate publication (publication of the same article in varios journals), inflated or meal-extended publication (a new publication is obtained by adding new data or cases but with similar conclusions of the previous publication), salami publication (the research results are divided as many low quality manuscripts as possible with the aim of maximizing the total number of publications), and redundant publication (several publications are based on the same data). Note that publishing the same research in different languages is a form of duplicate publication because the contributions are the same.
In our case, works published as thesis or extended abstracts are considered as not published. Our journals automatically reject manuscripts previously published in conference proceedings.
