La situación actual en el Ecuador alrededor de la complementariedad entre Ingeniería Civil y Ciencias Sociales dentro del sistema superior de educación

This article presents the results of the first investigation that aims to map the current state of education in the Higher Education System of Ecuador within Civil Engineering careers based on the complementarity developed in the training that engineers receive in relation to the social sciences. Through a mixed methodological approach, the curricula of 23 universities of the national higher education system that offer the Civil Engineering career have been analyzed to study the current offer of subjects focused on Social Sciences and their importance within the curriculum. To complement this analysis, semi-structured interviews have been carried out with 60 actors, among them students, professors and academic authorities of these Universities to understand their perspectives about the current state and the future potential of interdisciplinary collaboration between Civil Engineering with the social sciences.
