Abstract

The Problem Based Learning (PBL) is a curricular approach used to improve teaching from 60‘s years (initially in academic programs of Medicine and Laws) and at the moment is applied in other programs, among them those of Engineering. Although, PBL is considered a curricular approach, also it can be used like didactic strategy, since it promotes in the students the meaningful learning and in context. Considering the previous thing, a team of professors decided to take advantage of it to improve the learning of the engineering design and they applied it to the course, that the students of the 8 programs

of engineering that offers the Universidad Autónoma de Occidente sign up.

This paper registers the experiences that during two years this equipment of professors of the design’s area of the Department of Basic Sciences of Engineering in the Universidad Autónoma de Occidente has acquired. This paper have been presented to the Academic Community interested in the teaching of engineering design appears, sharing the applied techniques and the results obtained after the application of the Problem Based Learning (PBL) like didactic strategy to obtain meaningful learning in the students, who sign up the course Basic Design of Engineering.
