In this paper, several arguments on the positive effect of the incorporation of a chemistry course (based on materials chemistry), common to all engineering undergraduate programs, have been shown. The proposal is supported considering the low percentage of engineering programs that include the chemistry as mandatory subject into the curricula, and both the potential of chemistry to teach science competences and the close association between engineering and materials chemistry. An interesting course performed from different fundamental topics of materials chemistry, and using the pedagogical approach of problem-based learning was proposed.Downloads
